TITLE: CAT SHELTER | YEAR: 2022 | WHERE: WARSAW | FOR: CITY OF WARSAW
the realm of architectural endeavors, this project stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of form and function, conceived as an entry for a cat shelter competition.
The primary challenge was to efficiently organize all functions within a limited plot size. It soon became evident that a three-story structure was essential.
The building is designed to house 300 cats, each requiring an outdoor run. This necessity gave the building its distinctive character, as depicted in the visualizations—the mesh structures are actually cat runs.
Given the plot's forested location, a wooden construction was chosen to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
The building comprises two main sections: the first accommodates the cats, while the second functions as a veterinary clinic and a reception area for the eco patrol. The connector between these two sections serves as the entrance and a space where people can interact with cats available for adoption
We took 3rd place.
