TITLE: HOUSE WITH A FOOTBRIDGE   |   YEAR: 2021/2022   |   WHERE: KRÓLEWO   |   FOR: PATRYCJA AND MARCIN

The house, constructed using a timber-frame method, is designed to accommodate a family of four. Despite facing restrictive building conditions, the project incorporates several innovative solutions.

A unique feature of the house is that half of the living room and terrace is situated at a lower level than the rest of the house. This design choice allows the house to blend seamlessly into its sloped plot.

Although the house is relatively small, measuring 108 square meters, it efficiently includes three bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms, a pantry, a boiler room, and a sauna with a stunning view of the surrounding woods.

In the home of Patrycja and Marcin, the first floor opens up to the height of the second floor in three different areas, highlighting the living room, dining room, and kitchen.

The most distinctive element of the house's functional design is the footbridge that connects the two parts of the attic. From this footbridge, one can look down into the three open zones on the ground floor. This design, combined with slope windows, maximizes natural light and creates an impression of a larger, more interesting space.

The house is equipped with a heat pump, which is the most energy-efficient method for both heating and cooling. Capillary mats are installed in the walls, eliminating the need for radiators. Additionally, the windows' system and the house's temperature can be controlled remotely via a mobile phone.
